Resource One Competes and Places for CUNA Desjardin Award
Resource One wins second place for Desjardin’s Youth Financial Education Award.
DALLAS, TX (November 27, 2020)
Awarded by CUNA (Credit Union National Association), the Desjardin Award for Financial Education is given to credit unions, chapters, and leagues for their efforts to teach both adults and youth on the subject of finances. After receiving 1st place regionally for the Desjardin’s Youth Financial Education Award, Resource One moved forward to the national level competition. During nationals, Resource One placed 2nd for the Desjardin’s Youth Financial Education Award.
Resource One frequently works with youth and schools to help teach finances and money management. With help from credit union employees, schools can participate in events like Reality Fairs, educational presentations, Biz Kid$ competitions, and more.
“Teaching youth how to manage their finances when they become adults is one of the most important lessons that any Financial Awareness Program should impart. Our program is designed and created for that reason and purpose, exposing youth to real-world knowledge that helps them become better stewards of their precious resources,” explains Phillip Crocker, Training & Development Manager at Resource One. “The most important lesson we can learn about money has nothing to do with how much you can get, but rather how to use what you do have. As a true financial partner, our credit union helps to educate youth and contributes toward promoting social responsibility – resulting in a healthier and happier community.”
