Press Release: Resource One Credit Union Celebrates Anniversary with Food Drive
Resource One Credit Union Celebrates Anniversary with Food Drive
Resource One Credit Union celebrates their 85th anniversary by collecting no perishable food items for children experiencing extreme hunger and homelessness.
DALLAS, TX (August 31, 2021)
To celebrate Resource One Credit Union’s 85th anniversary, the Credit Union called for help giving back to the communities they reside in. Resource One members and staff donated nonperishable food items during the month of July to benefit children in the area that are experiencing extreme hunger or homelessness.
Food items were organized and assembled into lunch sacks containing a juice box or water, a dry snack, a fruit equivalent, and a sandwich equivalent to help ensure the children are receiving adequate nutrients. Employees were able to pre-assemble over 450 lunch sacks and deliver several boxes of individual food items.
Donations were delivered to local charities, Vogel Alcove and Kids’ Meals Inc., who reside in Dallas and Northwest Harris County, respectively. Both Vogel and Kids’ Meals work to help break the cycle of poverty, starting with children under the age of 5 in the community. To get involved, make a donation, or volunteer with these charities, please visit them online using the links above.
Vogel Alcove Story
Vogel Alcove serves as many as 200 children each day, allowing them to learn, grow and thrive in a place free from hunger or trauma. While their children are in our care, our parents, most of whom are single mothers, have the opportunity to work, look for work or go to school. We give homeless families a chance to overcome their circumstances. YOU can help.
Kids’ Meals Inc. Story
Our mission is to end childhood hunger by delivering free healthy meals to the doorsteps of Houston’s hungriest preschool-aged children and through collaboration provide their families with resources to help end the cycle of poverty. Harris County is home to more than 24,000 preschool-aged children living in food insecurity. We will not quit until no child is hungry.
